Global TV anchor Kevin Newman steps down; last newscast Aug. 20. By THE CANADIAN PRESS
OTTAWA - Kevin Newman is stepping down as anchor of Global Television’s national newscast, the latest development in a tumultuous period for beleaguered media giant Canwest. In an email Friday to Global staff, obtained by The Canadian Press, Newman indicated his last newscast will be Aug. 20. "Several months ago, after considerable reflection, I informed Global management of my desire for rest and creative renewal," Newman said in the email Friday. Newman said he’s leaving the suppertime newscast after one of its most successful seasons - averaging more than one million viewers per night - because "I wanted my successor to inherit Global National when it was in a position of strength." http://www.chroniclejournal.com/stories_national.php?id=261154 <http://www.chroniclejournal.com/stories_national.php?id=261154> ====== AIM/Gmail Chat: damonbeau www.facebook.com/damonbeau www.twitter.com/damonbeau -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "World News Now Discussion List" group.
