Everything is in VersionControl (TFS) and can be prefectly build from
within Visual Studio by different developers on different systems. My
problem is that Team Build (in its default build process) uses a
different binaries folder (Team Build uses Binaries instead of bin). So
I guess its best to follow your approach and either adapt our
solution/project settings to fit those of Team Build or vice versa.
Next time a new solution is started developers have to read
documentation what to adapt in order to get build running and setup
created.
Still I believe wix should have a feature to handle versioning in more
depth. While researching this topic I came across so many questions and
issues around this.
