Speaking of evil things... might I make a suggestion that two files be output?
TransformX.wixmst (XML file) TransformX.wixmst.cab (paired cab file) This would be super ideal and would help keep separation of concerns for each file sane as well. Or would that break too much stuff? Can I add a command line argument to split these things up?
