What happens if I attempt to use a predefined NetFx40ClientRedist burn packagegroup to install .net 4.0 on Windows 8? From looking at the wix source it appears it does not check the OS version or for .net 4.5. From what I understand .net 4.5 replaces .net 4.0 when installed.
