Thank you for looking at this.

I removed the condition for RemoveExistingProducts as you suggested. I
didn't want to have any complicated behaviour. It didn't help however,
as you guessed.

I have tried the MajorUpgrade too but it doesn't work as I want
neither. As far as I can tell it works just as bad as the <Upgrade>
and <RemoveExistingProducts>.

Your idea about adding perMachine is interesting. I tried that. Do you
have a tip how I can block upgrade from older versions and tell users
to uninstall first?

I can certainly show the installation log. How should I do it? Post
the whole log inline in a email to wix-users?

I have a question about file versions. If file versions are not set,
could that cause my old files to be kept instead of replaced when I
install a newer version? When I rightclick on my exe and select
properties it says that the productversion is 1.55 (which looks good
to me) but the fileversion is 0.0.0.0.
