The current released versions of WiX will always support all the curent
versions of Windows Installer. <smile/>

Looking forward, the only reason I can imagine that we'd move the minimum
supported Windows Installer in the WiX toolset is if we cut support for old
OSs. In the coming months through next couple years, Windows XP (all SPs)
and Windows 2003 (all SPs) will be out of service. At some point we cut
our tail and quit bending over backwards (mixing metaphors, I know) to
support "dead operating systems". Of course, customer demand makes that a
challenging line to walk. I'm walking it right now. Feedback (be
constructive and try to be kind <smile/>) is welcome.

And quite honestly, based on the usage numbers that I've seen, when cutting
the tail we may just move to Win7/Win2k8R2. That provides a lot of freedom
and reduced overhead. However, customer demand probably makes this just a
pipe dream for me. <smile/>
