This post indicates that it is possible to set MSI property from WIX:

If this is true, shouldn't I be able to use this approach to set some
kind of MSI property to force logging and/or configure location of the
log file?

Enabling logging seems to be a pretty common question on the WIX
forum, can we have WIX team to provide a recommendation on how to do
this?
