I'm looking at using the WiX toolkit to build an MSI from a Webpate. Our current solution, which uses a script executed by the windows "cscript" command, requires elevated permissions. On some systems, especially Windows 2008 R2, this causes some problems.
What I'm wondering is, will WiX be an ideal solution? I need to basically build an MSI that launches an embedded EXE. Each time it's downloaded, the MSI will need to be "re-generated" since the EXE contains time-sensitive data. Will I need elevated admin rights to do the above? I know my scenario is pretty general, if you need more details, please let me know. Thanks R.
