I created a project on CodePlex called IsWiX (http://iswix.codeplex.com) for this purpose but it's functionality is very narrow at this point. It currently only supports authoring Files and Folders in the context of a Merge Module. This was because at my day job we make extensive use of merge modules which are then consumed by InstallShield.
One of these days I'll get te code refactored to support other scenarios but I'm currently working 60+ hours a week between my day job and client work so I'm not very optimistic on when this will actually happen. Editing the WIX projects inside Visual Studio seems to just provide strictly a text editor for the XML file. This makes it difficult to make changes compared to a VS Setup and Deployment Project. For example, making a simple UI change in WIX would require a lot more time and information than doing so in a *.vdproj project in Visual Studio. Is there a tool that is used to visually edit .wxs files? Thank you, Chris ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Beautiful is writing same markup.
