That seems unlikely to me, even with the limited information supplied. Unless
there's something you haven't told us, why is it the registry?

1. What exactly does "uninstalls v1.7" mean? Or "disables"? If you still have
1.7 and 1.8 in Add/Remove Programs then it hasn't removed 1.7. If it's broken
it then as suggested you've broken component rules (i.e. broken sharing) and
uninstalling 1.8 is removing parts of 1.7.

2. If it's only a Vista problem the typical issue is that the install doesn't
work properly with UAC systems, and a lot of that relates to custom actions
that don't run elevated on Vista when they do on XP.

3. What exactly does it mean that you have 1.7 AND 1.8 on the system? If these
are are supposed to co-exist side by side and not interfere with each other at
all there are things you should be doing. If an uninstall of one is clobbering
the other they are clearly not side-by-side, so there are issues about whether
they are supposed to overlap or be completely separate with nothing shared
anywhere. For example, you can't just install two random products into the same
folder when files have identical names unless you've followed sharing rules. On
the other hand, if you ensure that they never overlap in file locations and
directory entries then they are side by side and won't interfere with each
other, but you have to decide which approach you're taking to make it all work.

I change it.Would you please help me?

Hard to say with such limited information, but my best guess would be a
problem with component rule violations. You really don't give enough of the
right information to make concrete diagnosis and give good advice.

Subject: [WiX-users] WiX problem on Vista

Dear All,

I have an installer which can have different versions such as V1.7, V1.8,
etc.
After installin each version, we have some problems with uninstalling it.
When we uninstall V1.8, it also uninstalls V1.7 or disables it.  This is not
on all machines.  The primary one we have seen the problem is on Vista.
Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of different machines to fully test this
issue. But it works well on XP.

Does anybody know the reason?

Thanks in advance
