AAAAAH... okay, your response now finally makes some sense. Custom action is what I was just looking at, as I don't have much of a notion of the patching...
Just for the record, I DID NOT author the original installer for this application, I am simply coming in after the fact with a new version. I am having a very hard time finding a good example custom actions (seems like I want a "type 2"). Do I need to write a little custom exe file? or can I simply use existing command line tools (such as xcopy or whatever) to back the file up and then restore it? Do I have access here to the directories I've referenced in the WiX file? THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR TALKING TO ME ABOUT THIS, I've been stumped on this one way too long and making a fool of myself taking too long to get a simple installer done! ;) Joshua -- View this message in context: http://windows-installer-xml-wix-toolset.687559.n2.nabble.com/InstallExecuteSequence-problem-tp5126839p5127462.html Sent from the wix-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ WiX-users mailing list WiX-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wix-users
