One way of avoiding overwrite by the default value during Change is to store INSTALLDIR value in the Registry as the part of custom action that is conditionally executed only on fresh install (i.e. Installed property)

Hi All, I got this weird issue. My installer creates a registry key in HKLM and stores the INSTALLDIR value. It provides default INSTALLDIR, however user can change it and the changed value gets stored in registry. Installer also have Change option enabled that REINSTALL = ALL All works fine except on WIN2K8 with UAC enabled- Install goes fine in this case also, however at Change\Reinstall the INSTALLDIR gets set to default not the one user provided. E.g. Install - DefaultINSTALLDIR = Value1, UserChangedINSTALLDIR = Value2 --> Value2 goes to registry. Reinstall\Change - The registry value gets replaced with default Value1. Also the Change option doesn't prompt for Elevation unlike the Install or Remove. Appreciate any help on this.
