Hello All:

I have:

<Property Id="PASSWORD"  Hidden="yes"/>

and the value passed on PASSWORD is written to the log file when the .msi is
invoked with

msiexec ... /l*v msilog.log ...

Investigation starts... In the log file it appears as

and it appears in the log file as

MSI (s) (BC!80) [10:39:39:772]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding ConfigureIIsExec
property. Its value is
'ConfigureIIs€1€5€1€User€1€Component_€1€Name€1€Domain€1€Password€1€3€OURUSERID€C_OurUserAccount€_abc€mgdContoso€<LOOKHERE>passwordIsHere<LOOKHERE>€4€2€1€0€0€2€1€16€1€AppPool€1€Name€1€Component_€1€Attributes€2€User_€1

so it looks like ConfigureIIs is writing it.

Is there someway to prevent the password being written to the log file in this
scenario where we configure a custom appPool, virtual directory, etc. in the
MSI. ?

Thanks

balu.
