I have verbose log and this is all the extra info that I find about the cause of the reboot: MSI (s) (4C:E8) [18:33:27:219]: RESTART MANAGER: Did detect that the client process of this installation holds file[s] in use, so a reboot will be necessary.
Is there any way to find out which files MSI sees as being in use? My program is definitely not running as I can see in Task Manager. Message that is displayed in a MessageBox is not much more informative. I hoped to see the list of files in use but instead I just get this generic message saying: The setup must update files or services that cannot be updated while the system is running. If you choose to continue, a reboot will be required to complete the setup. Reboot that ensues does not even give user the option (as normally happens otherwise) to close open applications. I have applied quite few patches so far and this problem did not occur. It started with the latest patch application and I am quite at loss, after making sure that my program is not running, what could have suddenly caused MSI to see it as holding files open.
