We have seen serious problems with this merge module. I think there's an
unavoidable problem with per-user installations if you use it. In at least one
of our setups, we use an executable file to install the VS 2008 support,
instead of the merge module.
I can find out the details for you if no-one else provides an answer.

I have a Wix installer that includes the following lines in the .wxs to get
the VS 2008 SP1 CRT merge modules into it:

Feature and I tried adding the policy merge module too, none of that made
any difference.)
And it seems to work as expected on WinXP and Win2000, but not on
Vista or Windows7.
On Vista and Windows7 I get a 2902 error and the MSI log looks like:

Anyone have any idea what is going on?
I have even tried to use a MSDN incident but havn't been able to convince
Microsoft that it even might be an issue with the merge modules or MSI.
