a) Get the development team to update the WiX code instead of doing it yourself. b) Do it yourself, and verify manually. c) Don't verify anything, trusting in your WiX skills and/or wait for a bug report to roll in when the developer figures out something is wrong.
I'm sure others have better solutions, but I haven't found any substitute for manual testing of installers and then analyzing the log files when something unexpected happens.
