Take a look at the MSI SDK about Major Upgrades. Is it a complete uninstall and reinstall (as I suspect). Does this mean I can't really detect when I am being properly uninstalled? I ask because I'm using an action to delete folders and clean up when completely uninstalling but it seems to be running on an upgrade too, wiping out my application preferences in the process.
