That's supposed to be taken care of by Windows Installer itself.  You can run 
as many as you like in 
the UI mode, but there's supopsed to be a guard so that only one instance can 
perform the 
server-side actions.  Are you seeing something different, or do you mean you 
want to only have one 
instance of your UI open?  If the latter, does knowing about the built-in guard 
mean this is no 
longer a concern for you?
