IIS 6 creates the integer web site identifier by using a hash of the site name. There is already an RFC asking for a way to tell Wix to use this mechanisms ([ 1437805 ] Configure Site Identifier assignment in IIS 6.0 <http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=642717&aid=1437805&gro up_id=105970> )
I need this and I need this now in Wix 2.0. We will deploy to multiple environments and need the sites consistently numbered in ALL environments. I know 2.0 is closed to enhancements, but I am hoping there is some type of a work around where I can pre-create the website in a VBScript custom action and then let the standard custom actions do their thing. I tried adding an action which runs before ConfigureIIS to do this, but ConfigureIIS is failing. Suggestions? (I have been using 2.0.5213.0, but will move up to the latest version today.)
