I have added the following code to the "Next button" control in my installDirDlg to throw a spawn dialog to prevent the user from installing if the pathEdit text box is empty..
<Publish Event="SpawnDialog" Value="CustomDlg">NOT INSTALLDIR <> ""</Publish> this throws the spawn dialog regardless if pathEdit is empty or full...
