First a flippant answer, us a VM to test installs then you can simply rollback to a know good state. Having said that, I have screwed up IIS several times! There are 2 options if you are lucky the IIS metabase has been backed up and you can restore it in the IIS manager. Second, I have uninstalled IIS and reinstalled it and that seems to fix it.
