The MDAC merge module was a stub wrapper around MDAC_TYP.EXE. Some things
never change.

The ship vehicle for common controls was traditionally Internet Explorer. No
other way of shipping them was supported. I don't think there have been any
updates since Windows XP.

Merge modules generally get installed to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Merge
Modules [in Program Files (x86) on an x64 system].

Visual Studio 6.0 eventually provided merge modules which can be downloaded

-bb4e-3aec65edd50b&displaylang=en> &displaylang=en. Note, however, that
they're a bit buggy - the bugs are documented at

Subject: [WiX-users] Merge Module source

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a free source of premade common merge modules build with
wix? I've been trying to us a couple of msm that came with install shield
while I learn wix, and they all end up with errors. I'm referring to msm for
thinks like mdac, common control libraries, etc, etc.
