In a hosted environment where server consolidation is occurring, multiple
configurations of the same applications will coexist and execute concurrently,
completely independently of one another. A self-configuring MSI would be a much
more convenient deployment mechanism than xcopy. Shocking as it may seem, but
setup technology could be useful for configuring bigger apps than Notepad -- if
it didn't have some unnecessary one-machine-one-app assumptions built into it.
:o)
