No, just anecdotal evidence.
The thing is, a major upgrade patch is an exact match for our
requirement to allow updates to the latest released version of our
application without requiring a download of the whole installer. Do
you have any recommended approaches for solving this problem?
I don't have any recommendations about major upgrade patches because I
haven't used them. It's not clear from the log why MSI needs the source
MSI. You can accomplish the same effect using a minor upgrade patch that
targets multiple released versions of your product.
