I see some interesting programs in the bin folder of WiX like pyro, melt and setupbld. There doesn't seem to be much information about what these programs do. Or is there?

Some are documented in wix.chm, some are documented in blogs, some are only documented in the source code. Pyro is a patch-building tool and is talked about in Derek's blog and Peter's started a series on the whole set of new patch-building tools. Melt converts merge modules to "normal" product authoring. Setupbld is the ClickThrough chainer's builder that takes MSIs and produces an .exe.
