We're attempting to use WiX (2.0) to include very large files (>2 Gb) in cabs.
Since the files are so big, we'll need some kind of cab spanning for the files.
When using Orca, and looking at the component tables, it seems fairly clear how
this can be done with sequence tables, however, when using WiX and the <Media>
DiskId's, it is not at all clear to us how we can specify that a single
component (or File, in this case) be spanned across multiple cabs (or Media
elements).
Is this done automagically, or is there is there an attribute that we are
overlooking in the <File> element?
We've found the MSDN documentation at
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370558.aspx for MSI authoring but
even after reading we're still not getting this right. If you could point us
to better documentation or other real-world examples that would help a lot.
