Many of the examples I've seen show an idiom that has a component containing a registry key and a shortcut.
Supposedly, the reason is that this supports user roaming profiles somehow, which I don't quite understand. However, on Vista, the HKCU this will be installed into is the local system account I assume. My question is, if I create a shortcut on the desktop for my per machine install, should I really be using an HKCU registry path as the keypath? Or should I be using HKLM as the root instead?
