Not currently.

If not, how should the generated file be used without editing it?

In general, heat is designed to produce the "first pass" for setup authoring that you edit as needed and maintain by hand. It's not designed to be used in an automated fashion.

Generally, I would really appreciate if anybody has a list of options the "heat"-tool could be controled with. The ones showing up by /? are not exhaustive since for example also the option -gg is not reported which definitely generated the GUID in upper letters.

The closest we have right now is from Derek's blog entry introducing heat <http://installing.blogspot.com/2006/04/heatexe-making-setup-easier.html>.
