Hi folks -

My first [and second] WiX packages made it to manufacturing ... now it's
time to build packages for our NLS distributions.

The first languages up are German and French, to be followed by Simplified
Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Swedish and Italian.

I've looked at Gabor DEAK JAHN's translation resource and found that
French and Simplified Chinese language libraries are out there ...
somewhere.

Does anybody have samples / pre-release versions of these that they can
share ?

That's the WiX specific questions ... <grin> ...

The next one is a bit different as it is regarding an approach to
installing a multi-language application.

I have been asked to build the package so that a base installation of the
NLS version of our product is installed, and then a language pack is
installed on top of that installation ... making any necessary file /
registry changes to enable support in the chosen language.

The base NLS package is in English ... and the idea is that the language
pack could be removed from the system and there would still be an operable
'base' installation of the product.

Ok so far ... but some of the modules of our application use non-versioned
text files to provide text strings to dialogs, reports, etc. ... and those
files have the same names regardless of the language they support.

I have asked that this approach be reconsidered due to the potential
issues, but I'd like to get some other opinions on this approach.

Any and all constructive thoughts & comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

-dmm
