Yeah, I don’t think enough functionality is provided
currently to make this work. You do need something like a GroupSearch
element. If you’d like you could take a look at the code (start in
wix\src\ca\serverca\scasched\scauser.cpp) and help extend it. I would
also encourage you to open a Feature Request so that if you decide not to write
the code, the desire for such a feature is not lost. From:

it possible to have wix add an existing user to a local NT group, only if the
local NT group exists? (I don’t want to create the group if it
doesn’t exist) I
suspect that I need to do this in it’s own component using a condition
node. What condition can I check for? There
is no GroupSearch node, is this what I need? I
don’t really want to have to do this in a custom helper library if I can
avoid it. Thanks
