See comment #2, which notes a bug filed at Apple against the Leopard X11 
server (which might be where the problem lies), a bug filed against 
Pango (which is probably not where the problem lies), and a bug filed 
against Cairo (which might be where the problem lies).  It might also be 
in GTK+, or possibly even in Wireshark, although it's not clear what 
Wireshark would be doing wrong.

Workaround: open the Preferences for X11.app, tell it to use "Thousands" 
rather than "Millions" of colors, quit X11.app, and try again (note: 
Leopard launches X11.app on demand, so you don't need to restart X11.app 
after quitting it).
