last year your proto_help code was added to Wireshark. As we are working
on getting Wireshark to build with GTK3 we do test compiles with some
additional GTK compile flags. The only decprecated GTK functions left are in
the menu code and in the proto_help code: The use of GtkItemFactory has to be
replaced by GtkUIManager. The menu code is being worked on mostly by Anders
Broman, but he has no interest in porting the proto_help stuff. Right now the
GtkUIManager stuff is only used by an experimental configure/cmake option,
but for those using it (still some work to be done) the proto_help stuff
is currently disabled. Once GtkUIManager becomes the default, proto_help will
be gone for most users (except those who build their own packages). Would you
be willing to do the porting?
