I keep hearing about various cities creating city-wide wireless networks
that provide free wireless access to all people, etc.
I wonder what are the technologies typically used to deploy such a
thing.
Do they use lots of wires, then hook up access points here and there? If
yes, what kind of access points?
Do they use "special" solutions such as BelAir 200? (which is supposed
to eliminate the need for wires)

Just curious. It's a very interesting problem from a technical
perspective.
