I agree..... All mouth and no ears sounds like the old CB band..... You remember CB Radio, the one where the bigger the foot warmer the better.... The Feds lost total control of that band... used Ham gear on 27 MHz with all sorts of problems...
I use 84 mw's on my link and the only problem I have discovered is one of my WAP54g's do not like below 0 deg F weather... only out for a few hours..... I look at using in the future deep cycle batteries a solar cell charger and no shore power on remote link sites.... And 84 mw's makes it real easy... all equipment off the shelf stuff... and real cheep.....

Amplifiers are pretty much useless with all the 802.11 stuff in most of the bay area, too much noise for the client to talk back to the alligator (all teeth, no ears) of an AP. The 15db difference (30-15) in the transmit and receive gain makes this worse with a 32 (2^(15/3)) times more powerful output. Don't become part of the noise problem, engineer your links well and use minimum power.
Anyone buying these who does not have a large tower in the middle off nowhere linking with clients in the middle or nowhere will probably end up selling them on ebay, just like this guy. So much for awesome.
