The XO2 radios from SmartBridges have two radios in them, one can act as a
client, the other can act as an access point..

Subject: [BAWUG] Client AND Access Point with one radio ?

I'm trying to find a solution (either as software, in the form of Linux or
Windows drivers/programs), or hardware-based, that could operate as an
802.11b Access Point as well as an 802.11b Client using only one radio, with
routing between the two "virtual" interfaces of the radio.
The reason I need this is that I have a situation like this:
* There is a "regular" access point AP1, to which I can connect with one
client (STA), which gets me one routable IP addr, and not more. That AP
provides me access to an "outside" network.
* Laptop A connects to AP1
* I have 3 other machines, C, D and E, which need access to the outside
network. Laptop A needs to act an an Access Point AP2 for C, D and E, and
route their packets through its connection to AP1.

Of course, this is easy to do if A has 2 radios. In that case, it uses one
in AP mode to provide connectivity to C, D and E, and one in client mode to
connect to AP1, and routes packets (with NAT) between the 2 interfaces.
WDS mode "almost" solves the problem, except that here, I need to route, not
bridge, because AP1 can only serve one single client, and allocate one IP
addr, so I need to route.

Does anyone know if it is possible to do the same with only ONE radio
(provided that the same 802.11 channel is used) ?
