Hi,

14.2-RC1 now has wirless firmware available to the installer. That is
especially important for rtw89 which no longer has firmware in the tree
at all.

The installer also has a feature (assuming wifi [or ethernet] work) to
install the firmware right away into the newly installed system over the
network.

I had given it some try, espescially with iwlwifi but it would be good
to get feedback from others too. The wifi setup in the installer is a
lot less feature rich than in bsdconfig so if someone has some time and
interest that's a welcome task for the future (also finishing bsdconfig
I think) to share most of the code as library functions.

Also please note that 14.2 (as does stab;e/14) still has the older
versions of the drivers compared to main. So if you have trouble on 14
it would be interesting to grab a latest snapshot build (the latest
please from at least last week) for main and give that a try as well.

I have one report for 14.2 that rtw89 RTL8852CE does not work on a new
laptop. I am waiting for some hardware in that regard myself so I can
do testing as well.

Also for rtw88 and rtw89 using the new firmware packages you do not have
to manually set the tunable anymore as it comes along with the package
for you installed to /boot/loader.conf.d/ .

I am waiting a few more days for all the builds to be done and packages
avail and probably the release being out before i'll start clearing
some of that up in src.git (man pages, rtw88 fw, and eventually iwlwifi
fw.

It also means that I am back to actual WiFi things.

There's still two open LinuxKPI tasks hanging around (malloc and dma
syncs) which will hopefully proceed the next days in the background.

/bz
