Greetings Brian,

I'm guessing that virtually everyone who reads this list has written
software that decodes packets. If you want to learn more about the
innards of packets, I recommend you get and use a piece of software
called "Ethereal", available from www.ethereal.com .

There's also an excellent book on the topic, "Internetworking with
TCP-IP" (fourth edition) by Douglas Comer, ISBN# 81-203-2065-4.

As for source code, I can't help you as my employer owns everything
I write. I suspect many list participants are in the same position.
So the best I can do is to suggest that you keep on creating your own
packet-decoding source code, using the resources I've suggested.

Sincerely,

Rob Henningsgard
