I am trying to use WinPcap 3.0 to monitor a PPP link under Windows 2000 Professional (Version 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2).
I note the comments in the FAQ about problems with PPP so I am trying to use the technique suggested in http://wincap.polito.it/misc/dialup.htm. I tried the first option (Network Monitor), but I'm not convinced that I have Network Monitor - what I saw was that Network Monitor appeared in the Networking properties of the dial-up connection, it was ticked, but greyed. windump -D did not show the new \Device\Packet_NdisWanBh. I then removed Network Monitor and tried the second option (editing the registry). windump -D still only shows me 1 device which is my Ethernet adapter. Looking in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0020 I seem to have the "WAN Miniport (Network Driver)" present. What else do I need to do to see the new device in windump -D or is there a problem using this technique with Windows 2000? ================================================================== This is the WinPcap users list.
