Hi,
Just a (silly ?!) question about SMP
support in winpcap. I definatly not understand why winpcap won't work on a
multi-processor machine...
I understand an application optimized
for SMP won't work with a single processor computer but an application
that is working in a single processor computer should always work in an SMP
computer, isn't it ???? In the
worst case, it will use only one processor, isn't it ? Could somebody explain
this issue to me ? As far as I understand and from what I read in the mailing
list archives, problems are more multi-thread related than smp related (global
variables access and so on ...)
To give an example, I have never
seen smp version for video cards drivers or network card drivers whereas these
drivers hardly access hardware ressources. You install the same drivers when you
have a single processor computer and when you have a smp computer.
Please, give me the answer ..... It's
a long time since I'm waiting to be able to use winpcap on my computer
