[WinPcap-users] pcap_open_live doesn't work

I'm running win2k, and just installed WinPcap 2.3 from the web site. I compiled the "pcap_filter" project using visual c++ 6.0 and had no errors. However, if I run it pcap_open_live() returns null. I use "-i 1" on the command line. Windump works fine.   My question is why doesn't pcap_open_live() work?   thanks
