Dear Friends and Shakespeare at Winedale Family,
Last year, a group of former students of Winedale--from the prehistoric ages to the present, from local terrain to places afar--presented Madge Darlington a gift to honor her “taking up the torch” in the summer and keeping the light of Winedale burning. The outpouring of generosity allowed us to present Madge with a $2,000 check acknowledging and celebrating her nurturing of the playful, risk-taking landscape built by Doc and cultivated by James for years.
This year, after another summer of fostering hilarious, heartbreaking, and super-creative work from students, we again hope to honor Madge’s contribution to the program. If her outrageously skillful guidance of Shakespeare at Winedale this summer wasn’t enough, her immense grace in doing so during a transition to new leadership has displayed her grit, her compassion, and her immense love of this incredible program.
