Beloved Ancianos from 1970-2000,

Plans are coming together for our April Archive-Spring Play-Festival of
Play-First 55th SAW Anniversary Reunion Weekend! A group of us zoomed Sunday
evening and we have roughed out a schedule for our days in Round Top and
Winedale, and we thought you might find it enticing to see the plans so far! We
will be doing our archive work in the classroom at Winedale thanks to Madge’s
kind invitation to set up there. This will give us space to spread out,
technology so we can project photos for all to view together, and the added
benefit that any Ancianos who come out on Saturday for the Festival of Play can
wander over to the classroom to see friends and participate in the process. We
will get to see Madge’s Spring class students perform on Friday evening, and
Clayton’s Outreach students on Saturday during the day.

Here’s the schedule:

  * Arrive Round Top Thursday April 24 mid to late afternoon. Settle in,
drinks, dinner, then over to the Barn to meet the Spring Class. Play together!
Back to the house for late night talk, drinks, singing…
  * Friday April 25. Coffee and breakfast at house. Following an orientation
to the assembled materials and instructions on how to handle them and what our
task is, we will spend the day working on archives in classroom at Winedale,
each person at his or her own pace, with time to wander around Winedale, go
back to the house for breaks, etc. Attend Spring Class performance in the
evening.
  * Saturday April 26. Coffee and breakfast at house. Over the course of the
day, step into the Barn to watch Clayton’s Outreach students’ Festival of Play
(apparently this is usually SRO!), and continue work on the archives in the
classroom. Evening at the house, activities TBD
  * Sunday April 27. Coffee and breakfast at house. Out of house by 11,
head to Winedale to help pack up the materials and circle up
Missing from this schedule are our lunches and dinners. We’ll just promise
that we will eat. What and where TBD.

We hope members of classes from the 80s and 90s will jump on board. We have a
few 70s Ancianos--the Ancient Ancianos--planning to attend, but this will work
best if all three decades of Doc’s classes are represented. We are hoping for
maybe 6 more people to sign up for the weekend, in which case the three nights
will run around $315, plus food. A bargain for three nights of fun, laughter,
storytelling, singing, and more.

Make like you’re jumping into an improv and SAY YES! Join us! Please let us
know by this coming Friday!

Thanks and Best,
Maggie for the Border Collies 2025

Subject: 55TH SAW ANNIVERSARY ARCHIVE WEEKEND / URGENT REPLY REQUESTED!

Dear Anciano Pals,
If you have been reading your emails, you will recall that we have planned to
kick off the 55th Anniversary of Shakespeare at Winedale with weekends in March
and April devoted to working on the SAW archive--viewing old photos and
identifying who is in them playing which roles in which plays in which years.
Unfortunately, Round Top's Spring Antique Fair takes place during the March
dates and there is no lodging to be had. On the April dates, we have located
two available (beautiful!) houses in or near Round Top that can sleep up to 33
people between them, and we have booked them both.
Here's the deal. House #1 can sleep up to 19; House #2 can sleep 14.
Bed-sharing will be required if we fill one or both houses (if you want or need
a queen bed to yourself and the house is otherwise full, you can possibly book
a bed and pay double). If we don’t fill the house or houses, we’ll divide the
cost by head. We are putting down substantial deposits so we have to watch the
calendar closely.
For house #1, larger capacity and lower cost, we will need to cancel by the end
of next week, Sunday, February 23, to get a full refund. House #2, is smaller
capacity and higher cost, but has a later cancellation date of March 25. Our
guess, depending on how many of us there are and whether we take one or both of
the houses, is that the per person cost for lodging will be between $300 - $500
for the three nights. Food will be separate, and we’ll think about how to keep
those costs down. J. Frank Dobie would suggest pinto beans.
We can hammer out the details once we know who wants to join the fun, but we
need to know by next Monday February 17 if you are in or out. Signups will be
first-come first-served, and we’ll hope to fill the bigger, less expensive
house in the next few days. If we are not mostly full by next Thursday, we
will cancel that reservation and turn our attention to House #2, and our group
will be smaller. So secure your spot! Reply quickly! Let the 55th Anniversary
Reunion begin!
Once again, please let us know about April 24 - 27, 2025, Thursday to
Sunday--including 3 overnights-- by Monday, February 17. ❤️❤️
Cheers,
Maggie, Kathy, Jerald, Mary and All the Border Collies!
