The wiki <https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Main_Page> (which has been upgraded and is running fairly well, thank you!) has been quite heavily targeted by spam <https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Special:RecentChanges> — it'd be really great to implement a couple of small changes to prevent this from continuing:
- https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Combating_spam#Quickest_solutions_to_try_first, namely - Set up the StopForumSpam <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:StopForumSpam> and ConfirmEdit <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ConfirmEdit> extensions - Set up the AbuseFilter extension <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:AbuseFilter> We might also want to temporarily disable new account creations ( https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Preventing_access#Restrict_account_creation) while we implement these changes.
