Thanks for this insight and context Fae, that's really helpful to me and
others to be aware of.

The way the Foundation asked me to distribute the survey was through a
random sampling model. However I felt that with the extensive personal
questions, this really did need to be completely optional (which it may not
have felt for a member receiving an email saying "You have been randomly
selected to participate in the 2021 Affiliate membership survey").

I will go back to the Foundation and ask if there is another way in which
we could help them to gather some of the information they are looking for,
bearing in mind some of the issues that you have raised.
