That doesn't really make much difference when it comes to media. It's very easy for me to get to the BBC's MediaCity in Salford Quays, but it's very rare that there's opportunities to be interviewed there. I've been on Radio 5 Live once from their studios in MediaCity, and that's about it. Most relevant media work (particularly TV) still takes place in London.
