Hi all It is a joyous moment for us to inform you that the Wiki Loves Butterfly (WLB) team has become a witness of the first record of *Neptis philyra* butterfly from India. In India, a total number of 26 species of *Neptis* were recorded previously. Four members of the WLB team – Atanu Bose <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Atanu_Bose_Photography>, Mahesh Baruah <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:MaheshBaruahwildlife>, Abhishek Dutta Chaudhury <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Abhishek_Dutta_wildlife>and Anitava Roy <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Anitava_Roy>, captured photographs of *Neptis philyra* (Long-streak Sailor) at the Tale Valley Wildlife Sanctuary <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talle_Valley_Wildlife_Sanctuary> in the Lower Subansiri district <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lower_Subansiri_district?wprov=wppw2>of Arunachal Pradesh <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arunachal_Pradesh> in the month of June 2023. The species was later identified by Tarun Karmakar <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Karmakar_Tarun>, an expert associated with our team, from the photographs. The first ever record of this species in India has been published as a scholarly article <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q125371386> in the scientific journal named Tropical Lepidoptera Research <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q21385963>on 5 April 2024.
