Hello everyone, The Filmi music datathon finished yesterday just moments before the midnight hour. The output of the event is being compiled to be presented to Wikidata as a gift for its 10th birthday. Wikidata now has 4897 film songs making filmi music as the topmost genre of musical works there. (80-99) % of their statements are linked with composers, lyricists, singers and publication dates. Currently, - The top 3 playback singers on Wikidata are - Sonu Nigam (888 songs), Asha Bhosle (664 songs) and Manna Dey (655 songs) followed by 518 singers in the line - The top 3 composers on Wikidata are - Rahul Dev Burman (727 songs), Sachin Dev Burman (374 songs) and Pritam Chakraborty (197 songs) followed by 319 composers in the line - The top 3 lyricists on Wikidata are - Anand Bakshi (313 songs), Majrooh Sultanpuri (304 songs) and Sameer (269 songs) followed by 291 lyricists in the line - The top 3 languages for the songs are - Hindi (3146 songs), Bengali (765 songs) and Marathi (722 songs ) followed by 14 more languages in the line. Thanks to all the contributors of the datathon who have enriched the data. Special thanks to Moebeus and Mahir who have provided useful guidance from time to time. Subodh Kulkarni and his team of volunteers from the Marathi community deserves special mention and appreciation for a coordinated effort to create data about Marathi film songs from scratch. This datathon was organized to start working on Indian songs on Wikidata. Hopefully, it will continue in the future.
