Hello everyone,

I'm Jorge Vargas, Sr. Director of Community Resources and Partnerships at
WMF, and the lead for two pilots proposed by the Foundation's Board of
Trustees around changes to our Resource Distribution and Movement Ecosystem
strategies
<https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Resolution:Draft_Movement_Charter_and_next_steps/Appendix>.
As part of the resource distribution changes, a proposal to pilot a Global
Resource Distribution Committee (stemming from the latest Movement Charter
draft
<https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Resolution:Draft_Movement_Charter_and_next_steps>)
was put forward for implementation.

I'm very excited to announce that the interim Global Resource Distribution
Committee
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Global_Resource_Distribution_Committee>
has been officially created with all its members, after the designation of
the three seats for affiliate background. This new community-wide committee
has been tasked with setting the strategy, structures, and processes for
resource allocation across the Wikimedia Movement. The GRDC has met
officially for the first time at Wikimania 2025 in Nairobi, and it is now
set to embark in setting priorities for discussion. You can read more about
the GRDC in its newly created Meta page.

This is the initial composition of the committee:

The 13 seats of the committee have been selected

through different processes aiming to form a competent and diverse team set
for success in a 2-year pilot. Feel free to reach out with any comments or
questions on the Talk Page

while we share more updates about the ongoing work.

Best,
