Thank you to all those who contributed. I think may be I will end up with WML components if I do work on it.
For now, for the quick prototype/demo, I will be using wurfl and wall (http://wurfl.sourceforge.net/java/wall.php and http://wurfl.sourceforge.net/java/tutorial.php) Will be monitoring http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/WICKET/Mobile+Devices for more information. Also found this useful http://www.passani.it/gap/ Thank you again for all the information. Will use Wicket on a more 'standard' web application for now.
