@Chuck,
Following on from Vince, I have a version of Gary’s last development branch which he was very close to launching. It has back filling if you run it as a driver. It’s stable enough for me to use on my live server. See it running at https://claydonsweather.org.uk. It will need some mapping of the fields which I can help you with. Link https://github.com/Millardiang/weewx-ecowitt_local_http/tree/development

I have also just completed (but not yet published to GitHub) a service extension for ‘live data’ from the new Ecowitt MQTT protocol. This subscribes to broker which the Ecowitt MQTT protocol is publishing to. It converts the subscribe stream to a valid json data format file which updates every 8seconds. You can use this in conjunction with the above or alternatively https://github.com/bellrichm/WeeWX-MQTTSubscribe/tree/master/ driver which has an example of how to configure for the MQTT capable Ecowitt devices.

(thanks Tom. Google groups can sure be flaky. For such issues should folks email you to check if their mssage is hung rather than doing multiple posts?)

Re: Chuck’s post - my only wish is that Gary and family are safe and sound and happy.

Re: the ecowitt driver, Ian captured the last released one. Ken True saved the saratoga extension. I had a copy of the stackedwindrose.  Multiple folks forked to github and downloaded at least those three just in case. I stashed all three too as well as tgz of ‘all’ upstream extensions I use.

Unfortunately the wikis need(ed) to be cloned separately due to how github works. I am unaware if anybody captured the wikis, issues, etc.  This is a bit of a code disaster recovery thing I guess.

Re: the gw3000 backfill feature there seem to be two efforts along those lines but the two efforts have not converged into one product yet if I recall the threads correctly.

If you are ‘just waiting for’ a new product and docs I guess you can stay the course and keep waiting, or perhaps you might contribute some time and effort on the comprehensive documentation side of the equation.  Or run the good’ol gw1000 driver without backfill capabilities.

Still, I keep wondering when Mr. Roderick himself will put in a return
appearance. On the WeeWX wiki home page:

... a couple of links remain to his GitHub pages at gjr80 but have
been withdrawn, resulting in a 404 error at GitHub:

... but those are not all that are lost. There are also:

+ https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-xcumulative
+ https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-saratoga/releases/tag/v0.1.9

... among others presumably, such as:

+ https://web.archive.org/web/20240926170943/https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-aurora
+ https://web.archive.org/web/20240926170943/https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-bloomsky
+ https://web.archive.org/web/20240926170943/https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-highcharts

There was some discussion about this three months ago:

... and I am aware that a couple of readers have posted links here to
clones of the gjr80 repositories made at various times, but nothing
has shown up in the WeeWX wiki that I'm aware of. One of these days,
I'm going to get down on my hands and knees and pore through the
correspondence and *diff*s to see what's going on.

There is an archive from Sep 2024:

Gary's wikis seem to be part of that but the issues feeds do not seem
to be. The wikis and issues feeds in addition to the correspondence
in this discussion group make up the body of documentation for the
code in the repositories. Gathering all that together again may not
be possible.

I have a shiny new GW3000 still sitting in the box just waiting for a
supported WeeWX driver (with comprehensive documentation) that will do
backfill.
